Mark Glenn / "Sergeant Husky"
U.S. Army Veteran, Philanthropist, and Community Leader
Mark Glenn, known to many in the community by his public-facing persona, "Sergeant Husky" is a proud United States Army Veteran, a double University of Washington alumnus, and a lifelong public servant. Having spent over 34 years in dedicated service to his nation and the State of Washington, Mark has turned the page on a successful career as an enterprise technology executive to focus his energy on his true passion: giving back to those who served.
Mark’s foundation of service began in 1989 when he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving during the Desert Storm era as a Telecommunications Center Specialist. His active-duty service included a memorable tour at the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) in Belgium. After returning to civilian life, Mark spent over three decades ensuring the safety, health, and technological resilience of Washington State's citizens, culminating in his role as the Chief Information Officer for the Washington Military Department.
Driven by his father’s legacy of veteran advocacy and his own deep connection to the military family, Mark established the "Sergeant Husky" initiative. Standing proudly on the pillars of his alma mater's spirit and his military roots, Sergeant Husky’s mission is simple yet vital: to improve the lives and well-being of fellow veterans. Through strategic partnerships, community collaborations, and advocacy, Mark works tirelessly to raise resources and awareness for critical issues, including veteran homelessness, food insecurity, mental health treatment, and suicide prevention.
Among his key philanthropic endeavors is the annual "Operation Turkey Drop," a project dedicated to supporting local military families. Guided by the motto, "Proudly Serving the Men & Women who have served our Nation," Mark invites everyone to join him on this mission to foster hope, build community, and ensure that no veteran is left behind.
